last farewell to UNC

well, i took my last trip up to chapel thrill yesterday. we had a bar night for barbara's birthday and a "bring barham home" celebration. i surprised barbara, which was fun. i drove up a little early and hung out with anna at her new place. im kind of jealous of all my friends that are getting apartments and furniture and get to decorate and stuff. but, then i think about how cool it will be to live abroad, i guess i realize that the other stuff can wait.

i was so happy that almost everyone i still know in chapel hill came out to linda's to hang out with us on tuesday night. it was so much fun, it felt like we'd rented out the bar because basically everyone there was there to hang out with us. what a great way to say goodbye to everyone. it would be fun to go back for a night or two, but im realizing that my time here is getting really short and theres a lot of things i need to take care of, including spending more time with my family.

it was really odd to say goodbye to people that i may never see again. i doubt things will still be as i left them in chapel hill when i come back next year or later. but i have a good feeling of who i'll keep in touch with and who i won't. i guess it all goes back to the theme of streamlining my lifestyle... like how i'm trying to pack for 10 months in one suitcase.
